Jordan Henderson injury update as England teammate sheds light on 'scary' moment

Marc Guehi has disclosed that Jordan Henderson is on course for a 'speedy recovery' after sustaining a broken arm while celebrating England's 3-2 victory over Mexico. Henderson was left in considerable pain after losing his footing while climbing over the advertising boards at the Azteca Stadium.
The midfielder received oxygen as he left the pitch on a stretcher following the incident before being transported to the hospital. Henderson is expected to miss the remainder of the World Cup and require surgery, but he will stay with the England squad until their tournament finishes.
And when pressed for an update on Henderson, during an appearance on Lions' Den, team-mate Guehi said: "Hendo's a good man, he's in a better place than he was yesterday. It was obviously scary for him and his family and for everyone else, but we're just glad that he's on the road to a speedy recovery."

The former Liverpool skipper was an unused substitute in Sunday's dramatic last-16 encounter at Azteca Stadium, where Harry Kane's spot-kick on the hour mark and a double from Jude Bellingham secured ten-man England a memorable triumph. And, speaking afterwards, Three Lions manager Thomas acknowledged that Henderson's injury left him with conflicting feelings.
"My emotions are very mixed," the England boss said. "I'm just proud of the mentality and the attitude. Round of 32, round of 16 is the moment in tournaments where you find a way to win.
"We did it with pure mentality, with heart. We overcame every obstacle that was thrown at us. I am so proud of the mentality and the will of this team. It is a very, very special night for us.
"Mixed feelings also because I am exhausted, of course, and emotional, but also sad because Jordan got injured. He injured his wrist.
"He is at the moment at the hospital, so it is quite a serious injury. It just doesn't fit to the evening that Jordan is now not with us.
"I don't know the procedure what is going on. I just did the press, and the doc told me he's in hospital."
England's next challenge is a quarter-final encounter against Norway in Miami on Saturday night. The fixture will see Guehi go head-to-head with Manchester City team-mate Erling Haaland, who netted twice against Brazil to book his side's spot in the last eight.
Haaland has accumulated seven goals in the tournament so far, and Guehi admitted: "It's going to be fun. I know he'll be up for it too, and like Nico said, it'll be a challenge.
"It'll be good to see some familiar faces and we'll try to do our best and get a win."
City star O'Reilly added: "It's special and a great feeling [to reach the quarter-final]. But we haven't really got time for celebrating, we've got another tough game coming and every team is going to be tough, so we've got to be ready."
